And the Countdown begins...

1955 Grace Kelly

1954 Audrey Hepburn

  • 1950's: The trend in makeup shifted from the perfectly arched brow, painted lips and flawless face of the forties, to the 'girl next door'...hair was softer, lips were lighter and freckles were allowed to show. Eyes and eyebrows were accented but not painted. The doe-eyed look is in AND 'Man-Tan' is introduced....and YES! it is exactly what you think it is...and YES! I believe this explains exactly what happened to George Hamilton.

1960 Elizabeth Taylor

1966 Natalie Wood

  • 1960's: The almond-shaped, doe-eyed look was replaced by the desire for more rounded features...a light lid, grey in the crease and brown or grey liner were IN! Eyes were played up, lips played down, cheeks barely there...contouring, highlighting and false eyelashes so beguiling they were 'guaranteed to lead any good man astray' made their debut.
